Title: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: TheAPERSON on June 17, 2008, 08:24:02 am
When I get Brawl, I will use a Gamecube controller, since I'm used to this from Melee.

GC for me. More buttons and I'm used to it from Melee too.

Ok seriously who will use the classic controller for SSBB? Is it even possible?

You can use the Classic Controller for Brawl but you don't get rumble support.

I never liked the classic controller - it just feels wrong
The shoulder buttons aren't ergonomic at all
And it's annoying having the remote wired to it

I don't have a Classic Controller. Plus, GC seems like the best option.

The GC controller. No contest.

I use the remote/nunchuck. I don't have melee or even a gamecube, so I'm unused to the GC controller.

Everyone who played Melee will use a Gamecube controller I'm sure.

Wait-- Shocking news! My mum won't let me have a GC controller or a classic controller, so it looks like I'm stuck with the Sideways Wiimote OR Wiimote/Nunchuk. Curses... [/rant]

Wii Remote and Nunchuck is better than just the Wii Remote by the looks of it, but only just.

Post by: Ratiqu on June 24, 2008, 05:07:28 pm
Oh no, trust me, it's far better with the nunchuck.

I've seen GC controllers going for a coupla quid - bargain!

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?

Bear in mind that people live in different countries on here. Though I think Pieisgreat shouldn't have too much problem getting GC Controllers.

I think if it's possible I'll use the Wii Remote to save my Gamecube controller configuration and profile so I can take it round to my friend's (read: Hypnotoad and OL1V3R's) houses.

EXCUSE ME for thinking in sterling!

OK, Three Euros

A bit over a coupla dollars

Some wierd amount of yen

Or 30 Yuan  ;)

Do you, Apers and Ol1v3r all live nearby?

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: TheAPERSON on June 25, 2008, 10:59:10 am
The controllers shouldn't be a problem. I have three GC controllers (though one has a broken R button), Hypnotoad has two I think, and OL1V3R has a Wavebird, so we have plenty of controllers.

Don't ask me for my friend code though as I can't access online.

I have... 2.50. I don't THINK I can get a GC controller for that much...

It depends on where you shop. Second-hand games/electronics stores are good, but avoid the internet - you'll end up paying much more for delivery

To my surprise, NXtreme has gone with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.

I'm sticking with the Gamecube pad though.

i've ditched the wiimote and nunchuck in favor of the GC controller

Sensible move. GC controller is the best Brawl controller. Don't know why the manual uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuck to describe the controls though.

I use the Wiimote and nunchuk and like it. :P

I don't think the Classic Controller and Wiimote/Nunchuk are too bad - they're actually surprisingly comfortable. I may start using the Wiimote and Nunchuk more often, because it feels more natural when playing a Wii game.

BTW, a long while ago, my WaveBird was only 4.99 from GameStation! Perhaps it's worth checking them out if you need a cheap Gamecube controller. But your best bet is probably eBay.

Not true. Not everyone kept their GC controllers.

I use the Wii-mote and Nunchuk.

Depends who you buy it from though. Everyone will ask different prices.

The thing about online retailers is delivery costs

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: TheAPERSON on July 01, 2008, 03:12:52 am
Yes, because sometimes the delivery cost is really high and the price is really low.

Briefly off topic here, but how do you say the currency sign on yours?Like $4 is 4 dollars here in the US.

Who, here, has a (Euro) key on their keyboard?

I know on some, there's a specific key;

On others, it's Ctrl + Alt + 4

It's just a lot smarter to use a GC or Classic controller, because they have a proper button layout.  If you do Nunchuck, it is awkward the poitioning of some buttons.  With the Remote alone, you have EVEN less buttons.  GC has everything you need conveniently placed, and although I haven't used the Classic, it looks very similar in layout.

Plus, GC/Classic have a "C Stick" for people who like to do their smash attacks that way O_o.

Post by: Hypnotoad on July 09, 2008, 01:55:24 am
I always use C-smash

In Brawl, it doesn't throw items like it does in melee, though - that's kinda annoying

On the one hand, attacking with items is easier

On the other, it's harder to bin useless items or throw items accurately

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: TheAPERSON on July 09, 2008, 03:08:55 am
I don't really use the C-Stick, that way I can charge my Smash Attacks and release them when I want to.

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?

The trick is to vary attacks a bit

That way, opponents can't defend as easily

And dodging is essential

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: TheAPERSON on July 10, 2008, 04:14:57 am
I realise that, though I tend to underestimate it sometimes.

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: Kiroshima on July 10, 2008, 11:49:29 pm
It's tough to dodge on the net...

ESPECIALLY down dodges, I just can't seem to get the timing right.  In 0 lag im fine though.

How do you think I did Boss Battles on Intense?  (After dying countless times O_o)

Title: Re: What controller will you/do you use?
Post by: TheAPERSON on July 11, 2008, 03:56:46 pm
Tabuu's Off Wave attack can be dodged with left and right dodges (though I haven't always managed this).

My Purple Gamecube controller has a broken R button though. However, it doesn't matter because L can be used instead.

Pit's pain-in-the-ass sidee+B attack is easy to avoid

Once I was against OLL13, he kept using that attack and I avoided it repeatedly

The look on his face was hilarious

Wii-Mote and Nunchuk is good for people who don't have a GC controller, like me.

I suppose so. Though they still sell Gamecube controllers.

Ha! I went to GAME today, and you'll never guess what I found... 1 GC controller, 7.98. My new control method is here!

I have a GC controller, I just don't use it. The only thing awkward about the Wiimote/Nunchuck is the taunts, and I don't use those much anyway.
