This is the next Guitar Hero game for the major consoles (not to get mixed up with On Tour on the Nintendo DS).

Rather than just the guitar like in previous Guitar Hero games, this game also includes drums and a microphone. You can also create your own songs on it with full multi-track editing and presets from Line 6 (who make amplifiers). You can share these songs online, as well as create your own rockers, guitars, drums, microphones and customise your band logo. It looks so exciting!

Here are what the drums and guitar will look like:

And on YouTube you can search for E3 trailers - a lot has been revealed about the game. Here's a gameplay demo for "Santeria" by Sublime:

And another for "Hot For Teacher" by Van Halen:

Trouble is, it isn't really guitar hero anymore if it's more than a guitar. Looks like a good attempt to freshen up a series that's going the way of Tony Hawk and being the same every year.

The previous games before Guitar Hero 3 aren't exactly boring (for me, at least), so I didn't think there was anything wrong with the series. As a matter of fact, old Tony Hawk games sell for rather cheaply, but Guitar Hero was released in 2005 and that is still popular among second-hand buyers. Also, Guitar Hero 3, like Tony Hawk games, was developed by Neversoft. It's not that the game is losing interest, but the reason the drums and mic have been added is to compete with Rock Band, which has been out for a similar time as GH3 in the US.

Even if the games did seem samey, they're not exactly bad: it's just a different set of songs in each game.

I've heard people claiming that GH3 was the best in the series so far. World Tour might outclass it though.

You know that tune on Smash Bros. (the one with the guitar version of the Brinstar theme). You could make that song on there. A song editor is just the thing to breathe new life into the series.

Oh, and these guys would make great tunes for it:
