Well no offence but I'm not really liking this idea. I'd rather a completely new game than a mangled, rehashed version of all the others.

Going with the theme of time, I think it would be more interesting if Samus had a "Time Suit". Since you can't really go back in time it would just speed up the flow of things and advance her to the future.

Interesting idea. Perhaps both players could have a Time Suit.

Perhaps a time paradox could lead to samus meeting herself and player two could play as her sometimes

Well I suppose that could happen too.
This would be one of the biggest Metroid games ever.

And would probably set a precedent for Nintendo to base games off of. Then, if they didn't like something they put in there, they could dismiss it as a "potential" future, since the future has different outcomes depending on decisions people make.
I also like the idea of a Time Suit. Which could possibly lead to something similar to the dagger they have in Prince of Persia. If only in the slowing down or temporary reversing of time aspect.
And part of the game might be finding powerful materials to power her Time Suit and advance her to the future.
And I'd like to apologize to Leonri. I was a bit of a jerk in that last post.

Hey, I suppoe we need to think about the sort of levels that the game would have.

Yeah. probably a short section with Hunters, using the Time Suit in conjunction with an Octolith to time-jump. Several sections from Prime, again, using Phazon to time-jump.
Maybe several levels where something weird happens from one of the older games and you have to correct it to prevent a paradox. Like, the moon Rundas originally came from is decimated in a Space Pirate attack a year or two before he was born and you have to stop the Pirates before they can do it.

That's a good one. Perhaps Time Paradoxes have affected Planet Orbits and some are stuck together. So you could have Temple Grounds and Tallon Overworld mixed into one level.

I did a short story for English coursework once and that involved a spaceship travelling towards a planet which is orbiting away from it, so that's where I got my idea of the way planets orbit.
And how about the Frigate Orpheon could crash land on a different planet. Perhaps Zebes. Then the Space Pirate Mothership from Metroid Zero Mission ends up on Tallon IV, so the Wrecked Ship ends up somewhere else.
