Title: Favourite Zelda dungeon/level/sequence
Post by: Hypnotoad on June 15, 2008, 02:59:25 am
And the winner is - HYPNOTOAD -

Yes! I came up with this first!

Oh, sorry... this thread is where you can talk about your favourite dungeon (enclosed level) or sequence (such as the Kakariko "western" bit in TP) in the Zelda series

To make things interesting, say why you chose that bit, and what in particular you liked about it

And don't forget to say the game!

Example:

"I liked Snowpeak Temple from MM, because of the way it centres around a high central 'core' room"

I started the Zelda Dungeons thread! Ha!

Anyone can start threads. You don't need to brag about it.

Anyway, my favourite dungeon in Zelda games is the Temple of Time because you get to control a big statue and it's a great dungeon.

The TP dungeons were all very excellent but the best ever was Forsaken Fortress from WW....The stealth thing was so cool and novel for Zelda. Then you got to come back later with all your new powers and open some serious whoop-ass! :D
Also the atmosphere is perfect...When I think of WW I think of Forsaken Fortress.

Sorry if I'm overenthusiastic, I'm kind of new to this

My own favourite dungeon ('cos the previous were just examples) has to be the Palace of Winds in Minish Cap: It has a great atmosphere, brilliant music and the Roc's Cape! ;D

Plus there's continuity between that and Four Swords

As a level sequence, I liked the horseback battle in TP.

Hard to choose a favorite dungeon... but I think the thing that really stuck with me when I first played Ocarina of Time was inside of Jabu Jabu. The fact that you were inside of a giant fish was just... incredible to me.

Now, almost a decade later, I'd have to say the horseback battles in Twilight Princess were incredible. The sword duel against Ganondorf was superb, especially when you lock swords, and if you're playing the Wii Version, for some reason as I press A my mind tells my body to push against Ganondorf's sword so I feel like I'm actually in the game.

Hey, that's what I did. I found it actually helps to push Ganon down.

I liked the Forsaken Fortress in WW.

That sounds like the placebo effect

It is a fantastic boss battle, though

Forsaken Fortress just annoyed me

It was an all-right boss battle. About triple difficulty would have been nice. He is a bearer of the Triforce after all. And the thing with the fishing-rod's just weird.

What thing with the fishing rod?

You don't know? One of the things that kinda made the one-on-one duel lose a bit of respectability. Bow? Useless. Boomerang? No effect. Bomb? Dosen't leave a dent. Fishing rod? Stuns him for 5 seconds.
Serious. He stands there gaping at the lure as it flys by, making this stupid noise, allowing you to get in 3 easy hits. ::)

I'll have to try that out sometime.

Sounds like the net trick in LTTP

I wonder if you can beat possessed Zelda with empty bottles...

How exactly do you mean?

Well you can beat Ganon's first form in Oot with nothing but a bottle and a bow. Now that's fun to watch. :D

Don't you know the bottle trick, APers?

No. I beat Ganondorf the standard way.

The bottle reflects the light orbs just like the sword. Quite fun to watch.

I guessed that. Adds something extra to the Ganondorf battle I take it.

The bottle trick itself is a reference to the net trick in LTTP

You can beat Agahnigm with the bug-catching net

And Soul Calibur 2 on the GC has the net as a weapon, alluding to that also

Yeah I know. It's a comedy weapon, so it isn't the most ideal (Great Fairy Sword is what I use when using Link) but it's still pretty neat. Hard to get your hands on it though.

How do you get the Great Fairy's sword to attack Gannon? (Me thinks you made a mistake!) :P

I was reffering to Soul Calibur 2.
